Hey out there in Deviant Land. Special shout out to all the TBOG supporters. You guys rule! I haven't made a journal in a while and I felt like ranting, so here we go!
Apparently, Anime has become the new rage in Hollywood. There is quite a few big movie adaptations on the way, based on Mangas and Animes from the Land of the Rising Sun. Currently in theaters, there is Speed Racer. Next year, we have Dragonball, coming in April. Also, on the way will be movies based on Akira, Avator, and one I am really interested in, Ghost in the Shell, which well be helmed by Steven Speilberg himself. My question is, is this a good thing? I know that the majority of us here are big anime fans, and I think we want to see this, but at the same time, we don't. It would be really cool to see our favorite animes in live action form with cool special effects, but at the same time, we are afraid that they might end up screwing it up. I hope they don't go the way of video game based movies, where they end up completely changing the plot and make something totally different, and it ends up sucking. I think that is what I am most concern with. Animes can be pretty complex, I feel like people have to give them a test drive to see whether or not they can get in to them. And with only a two hour window to make a movie, can Hollywood make a movie that stays true to the original material, and keep people who are not familiar with the Anime interested. It is kinda of a tricky balancing act. I do admit, that I am intereseted, however. I have never been a fan of Dragonball, but with the live action movie on the way, I may end up changing my mind. Which could be another cool thing about a movie. If it is done really well, it can give the Anime new fans and new popularity. But if it is awfull, it could be a disaster!
Well, what do you guys think? Should Hollywood make these movies, or should they just leave our Animes alone. What other Animes should be made into live action movies? About Narito, Full Metal Alchemist, Bleach? Let me know. In the meantime, see you at the movies!

Your feelings on Speed Racer pretty much matches alot of peoples, since the movie is floping at the box office. That was $120 million well spent.
A Bleach musical? That I gotta see.
